Strauss Louw was 8 years old when he realised that art would be his career of choice. In his late teens he explored drawing but that was quickly overtaken by photography which became an obsession and his main focus while completing his undergrad at the University of Stellenbosch. Photography as a medium guides his art and reflects his relationships, his state of mind and the places he finds himself in. Strauss is inspired by the early methods and materials used by the photographers of the 19th Century. He has exhibited at SMAC, Smith and NO End Contemporary and is currently busy with his Masters at the University of Stellenbosch.
