Kiss me when you get home

"This painting is of a mezuzah. It is a small case with a handwritten parchment scroll containing a specific prey
from the Torah. In some Jewish customs the mezuzah is touched and kissed by hand upon entry. It always sits at
the entrance of a home or room and tilted slightly inward to recognise compromise in different opinions. This
mezuzah was at our front door when we moved into the house and so it remained when we left. For me, it’s a
gestural object that reflects my Jewish heritage. For the residency, an idea of temporary objects that may not be
architecture but stay nonetheless." Guy Simpson
