Guy Simpson
Guy seeks to make meaning from memory and form.
Guy collects:
- excess material from the workshop in his studio to add to paint
- shoes that are no longer walked in
- architectual moments that get overlooked
- cracks in walls
- tortoises (people just give them to me)
Guy attempts to:
- make shoes walk again
- make neglected moments feel beautiful
- look at everything twice Then and Now
Guy has:
- a Bachelors degree in Contemporary Art from The Creative Academy in Cape Town, 2019
- Co-founded an artist run project space called Under Projects
- independently curated several exhibitions in Cape Town
- participated in various group exhibitions locally and internationally
- been presenting solo projects and exhibitions since 2022
- been shortlisted for the 2024 Gasworks London artist residence
