Guy Simpson
Guy seeks to make meaning from memory and form.
Guy collects:
- excess material from the workshop in his studio to add to paint.
- shoes that are no longer walked in.
- architectual moments that get overlooked.
- cracks in walls.
- tortoises (people just give them to me)
Guy attempts to:
- make shoes walk again.
- make neglected moments feel beautiful.
- look at everything twice Then and Now.
Guy has:
- a Bachelors degree in Contemporary Art from The Creative Academy in Cape Town, 2019.
- Co-founded an artist run project space called Under Projects
- independently curated several exhibitions in Cape Town.
- participated in various group exhibitions locally and internationally.
- has been presenting solo projects and exhibitions since 2022.
- was shortlisted for the 2024 Gasworks London artist residency.
