Leonardo Sitoe (b. 2000) is a multidisciplinary visual artist born in South Africa and based in Johannesburg, with familial roots in Maputo, Mozambique. His practice draws on Afro-Surrealism and African dream narratives to unearth the memory of materials and myth within the diasporic condition. Working primarily with wood and found materials, he creates ambiguous figures that occupy the space between human and nonhuman entities, often speaking to fractured histories and to the act of dreaming as reclamation.
